Little Boat Ride

The fall weather has been great this year with warm weather and blue skys. I had the opportunity to get a ride on the Intracoastal Waterway and jumped at the opportunity. Small boats can be launched at the Salt Run ramp close to the Lighthouse. It's a short run down Salt Run to the inlet and east to the Atlantic Ocean or west to Saint Augustine. The tide was changing and there was considerable current in the inlet where we passed a shrimpboat. Downtown Saint Augustine was a photo opportunity with lots of boats moored south of the Old Fort. Many larger boats and yachts are heading south for the winter and are utilizing the City Marina and the new mooring balls the city has installed. Next under the Bridge of Lions and south keeping the red marker bouys on the right. This could take us all the way to Key West if we were so inclined. Real estate is in high demand along this senic waterway and even the birds must compete for space. A few miles south and we arrive at the 206 Bridge. Time to turn around and head back to Saint Augustine.
